The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce Green Awareness Taskforce will serve as the focal point for providing Green Advocacy and Awareness to the Fort Walton Beach Community, to help Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa County become designated as Green Communities, and serve as a central repository for information regarding government, private initiatives and programs regarding the conservation and preservation of natural resources.

Litter Cleanup in Okaloosa County

Adopt-A-County Road and Adopt-A-Dune Programs: The Environmental Council sponsors roadside litter cleanup efforts. Organizations may adopt a two-mile rural or one-mile urban segment of county road by agreeing to remove litter alongside their adopted area a minimum of four times yearly. In addition to roadside cleanups, organizations may adopt the beach and dunes surrounding an Okaloosa Island beach park by agreeing to clean the area at least three times yearly. Details here.
